Research Matters 1: Process and Practice

Module Leader: Dr. Donna Woodhouse

Module Information

The aim of this module is to introduce you to the methods used in the study of sport and society.  It will help you identify the strengths and weaknesses of each approach, and to evaluate their use value as social research tools. The module will compare and contrast traditional and non-traditional methods of investigation, and will apply each of these to a range of contemporary research settings.  The module is a first and important step, in developing your ability as an independent researcher, providing you with a practical introduction to research and introducing you to the ethical, procedural and technological dilemmas posed by sociological research.
